Help with math problem please

6 = 2(x + 8) – 5x

What is x?

Multuply everything in the ( ) by 2. So its 2x + 16 - 5x. Then subtract 16 on both sides of the = sign. Then it becomes -10= 2x-5x. So it is -10= -3x. Last just divide -10 by -3! Your answer will be a fraction so just keep it as x=10/3

6=2x+16-5x
6-16=-5x+2x
-10=-3x
3x=10
x=10/3

6=2x+16-5x
6=16-3x
-10=-3x
3.333333=x
