and so you multiply 5 by two to get that, so then you multiply 4 by two to get 8 its a proportional-8.......
If the two legs have a ratio of 3 to 4, the hypotenuse is 5. I believe my math teacher referred to this a a 3, 4, 5 triangle (a special type of right triangle). Think of one side being 3 inches, the other being 4 inches, and the hypotenuse being 5 inches. Now if the hypotenuse is 10 (double the length of the original), the other two sides must be double the length as well to keep the same ratio.
