Do you insist on people addressing you as "doctor"?

My students call me professor, but I've never had to insist on that. They do it out of respect, and I let them because I'm not much older than they are so I don't want them starting to treat me like a fellow student. But outside of the college, no one calls me doctor. Just like I don't call my friends with medical degrees doctors outside of their work environment.
