0 watts when connected across a 60 volt battery.(a) A and B are connected in series across a 60 volt battery. What is the total power?I got 33W which was wrong.(b) A and B are connected in parallel across a 60 volt battery. What is the total power?......
"A" is a light bulb that uses 11.0 watts when connected across a 60 volt battery. "B" is a light bulb that uses 22.0 watts when connected across a 60 volt battery.
(a) "A" and "B" are connected in series across a 60 volt battery. What is the total power?
I got 33W which was wrong.

(b) "A" and "B" are connected in parallel across a 60 volt battery. What is the total power?
And I got 60W which was wrong.

Please help me.

By P = V^2/R
=>R(A) = (60)^2/11 = 327.27Ω
=>R(B) = (60)^2/22 = 163.64Ω
(a) By R = R(A) + R(B)
=>R = 490.91Ω
=>By P = V^2/R
=>P = (60)^2/490.91
=>P = 7.33 Watt
(b) By 1/R = 1/R(A) + 1/R(B)
=>R = 109.09Ω
=>By P = V^2/R
=>P = (60)^2/109.09
=>P = 33 Watt

A is not a light bulb, it is the first letter of the alphabet. A is therefore wrong. (And B)
