The city gets cold winters with lots of snow. Pennsylvania is a continental state, meaning a four season climate pattern. Philly has four distinct seasons. Spring grows leaves, summer is warm, fall has colored leaves and cooler weather and winter is cold and snowy. That is not the definition of subtropical.
