Can a black hole as per its definition eventually swallow all the celestial bodies in the Universe?......

Can a black hole as per its definition eventually swallow all the celestial bodies in the Universe?

answers:
Tide say: Black hole is the better hole for sex.
-
gregory_dittman say: No, because space is expanding too fast. Also black holes do not have more gravity than the original sun plus whatever it ate.
-
Jeffrey K say: Yes, it is possible. But it won't actually happen because galaxies are too far apart and space is expanding.
-
Paula say: Yes. Sort of.
But the universe is currently expanding - the galaxies are getting further apart.
In each individual galaxy, the central black hole will eventually absorb all the stars in the galaxy. That will take eons - perhaps 10^100 years or even longer. In that amount of time, the orbital energy of each star will slowly be lost and they will be drawn by gravity toward the central black hole.

So we will be left with just a single black hole in each galaxy.

Black holes will eventually evaporate - even the most massive ones - when the temperature falls to near absolute zero.

So eventually nothing will be left.

CarolOklaNola say: Yes, that is ONE possible scenario for how this Universe MIGHT end. Black holes are real. Their accretion discs have been photographed.
-
MysteryGuy say: No. Because the universe will still being bigger
-
Zardoz say: That is the eventual end of the Universe 10^100 years from now. In their random wanderings, every last bit of mass will eventually fall into a black hole.

Then, as the Universe has cooled below the temperature of even the largest event horizons, gravity waves and Hawking radiation will evaporate the black holes away.

That is if expansion doesn’t accelerate to the point that even quarks are torn asunder.
-
Quentin say: That's the theory of the expanding and contracting universe. So some people think the universe will keep expanding, others that the expansion will slow down and start to contract back to a black hole. Then go through a wormhole back to the big bang!
-
say: "Can".. yes in theory such a thing is possible but complicated. I would have to go with Schrodinger's theory on this one.
-
Matej say: I don't think black holes even exist. Noone even claims to have seen one, much less prove it's existance.
-
Acetek say: given enough time all that would be left would be black holes and even those will evaporate over time from hawking radiation.
