What is the closest habitable planet to earth that we can travel to, Mars?......

What is the closest habitable planet to earth that we can travel to, Mars?

answers:
marty say: The nearest such planet may be as close as 12 light-years away. On August 24, 2016, astronomers announced the discovery of a rocky planet in the habitable zone of Proxima Centauri, the closest star to Earth. Called Proxima b, the planet is 1.3 times the mass of Earth and has an orbital period of roughly 11.2 Earth days.Mars isn't habitable because it cannot be kept habitable. It lacks a magnetic metal core, which means it has no magnetic field. The atmosphere Mars once had has been stripped away into space by the solar wind. Any atmosphere we gave it would ultimately suffer the same fate.

Fred say: Well? Take greater care and interest to Earth … They are no other habitable options!!!!
-
Manuel say: There is nothing that meets your criteria within this solar system.
-
ANDRE L say: No other planet in our solar system is habitable for humans and Earth life.

While we've found some Earth sized planets in other solar systems, we do not yet know anywhere near enough about them to know if they are currently habitable.
-
Ronald 7 say: More or less
Like we could Terraform it with a lot of work
2.5 Billion years ago, Mars was a different story before it got clattered by a Massive Asteroid that wrecked it and left the Tharsis Plateux about the size of Texas
-
Jessie say: That we can travel to? None. That would hold even if Mars was habitable.
-
ReductioAdAstronomicus say: As far as we know, and are ever likely to know, there aren't any. On top of that, there is no reason to assume that there is any technology, or any new physical science beyond what we have to day, so to assume that anyone can ever travel to another star in one piece in under a million years is based on the science fantasy of bygone eras.

Fortunately, the Earth is still habitable, despite humanity's efforts to sterilize it. I would suggest learning about all the fabulous species on Earth, and make the most of your time here, as Earth is the only habitable planet we will have.
-
Atheist Dude say: Mars only if we terraform it like in Man of Steel to make it like Earth.
-
Jeffrey K say: If you mean a planet people can live on without spacesuits, there are none. With a spacesuit and structures, people can live on the moon or in space anywhere. Some are on the ISS station now.
-
Pearl L say: probably
-
Murzy say: Venus is closest but not inhabitable

say: No Mars isn't habitable. But 100 million years before Earth was habitable .... Mars was habitable. It's not clear what happened in 100M year span that made Mars inhabitable and Earth habitable.

For millions and millions of years, Earth was inhabitable too. For the first 600 million years there was absolutely no life on Earth. Not even bacteria or microbes. There also was no oxygen for 100s of millions of years on Earth.

you can not travel the universe. It is light years...billions of them. No chance.
-
Bill-M say: None in this solar system. Mars is NOT Habitable and terraforming is science fiction.
-
Nikki say: if we have enough new technology, we can live on the earth moon.
but,---we don't.
it was over thousands of years that we have applied technology to the earth to bring about our present state of civilization; who would be willing to give-up this state of quality of life, to go-back-in-the-past and live at a reduced quality of life on another planet, anyway?
-
Acetek say: Mars
