So in order to do that you must cube the values.(1000)^3 = 1,000,000,1,000,......
A bedroom has a volume of 114 m3. what is it's volume in km3.

please dumb it down for me :) i seem to be getting the wrong calculation every time i type it in.

there is 1000 meters in a kilometer. But what you need is the conversion from cubic meters to cubic kilometers. So in order to do that you must cube the values.

1000m=1km
(1000)^3 m^3 = 1^3 km^3

(1000)^3 = 1,000,000,000

so

1,000,000,000 cubic meters = 1 cubic kilometer

114m^3 * (1 km^3 / 1,000,000,000 m^3) = .000000114

In scientific notation your answer is 1.14 x 10^-7

1 km^3 = 1000m x 1000m x 1000m = 1 x 10^9m^3

thus X : 114m^3 = 1km^3 : 1x10^9m^3
X = (1/1x10^9m^3)(114m^3)
X = 0.000000114 km^3
X = 1.14 x 10^-7 km^3
