Salt would dissolve the fastest in:

A. 50 mL of oil.
B. 100 mL of hot water.
C. 100 mL of cold water.
D. 50 mL of room-temperature water that is stirred.

10 points

It is easy to discard (A). But comparing B with D all depends on the crystal size. If they are finely divided, then hot water will be more beneficial then stirred room temperature water. But if the crystals are large, then stirring will be more beneficial in most cases.

If out of a salt shaker, I would go with B.

But also, it depends on the quantity of salt added and how it is added.

IMO, a poorly worded question if that is how it came from the instructor.

It will dissolve faster if stirred, because of the catalyst (so D) but you can dissolve more salt in warmer water
