read your textbook...x1 = - 2 + sqrt(5),Also, you can use the quadratic formula!......
1) b^2 = 8

2) 3(x + 2)^2 - 4 = 11

-
3(x + 2)^2 - 4 = 11

3(x + 2)^2 = 15

(x + 2)^2 = 5

x + 2 = ± √5

x = - 2 ± √5

check

one problem at a time...read your textbook...practice

1)

sqrt(b^2) = sqrt(8)

b = ± sqrt(8)

2)

(x + 2)^2 = 5

sqrt((x + 2)^2) = sqrt(5)

x + 2 = ± sqrt(5)

x1 = - 2 + sqrt(5), x2 = - 2 - sqrt(5)

Also, you can use the quadratic formula!
