Ravi is comparing the costs of long distance calling cards. To use card A, the cost is $0.50 to connect and then $0.05 per minute. To use card B, it costs $0.20 to connect and then $0.08 per minute. For what number of minutes does it cost the same amount to use each card for a single call? _________ min
ANYONE KNOW THE ANSWER!

-
.5 + .05x = .2 + .08x
.3 = .03x
10 = x

Phone card A & B each costs $1.00 at 10 minutes

-
Card A --> 0.5 + 0.05m

Card B --> 0.2 + 0.08m

so, 0.5 + 0.05m = 0.2 + 0.08m

=> 0.03m = 0.3

so, m = 0.3/0.03 = 10.............i.e. 10 minutes and costs $1.00

$0.05x + $0.50 = $0.08x + $0.20
x is minutes, to find the answer, find x
