Yes. I worked with a fellow who had to have them disabled (destroyed) by laser due to a medical condition. He had a tiny dot tattooed on each cheek which was used as a guide point for the doctor to aim the laser.

This guy lived a very normal life but he always had a glass of water or a little drink of some sort nearby at all times or his mouth would get dry. No, he didn't drink booze, and he rarely ever mentioned it as an inconvenience.
