Yeah, where does it come from?To my knowledge, any chemical due to its composition (Or element combining with air)gives off some sort of gas which disperse ormixes or modulateswith air.Ok up to this point we are true here. Now comes the meaning of smell?......
This is quite interesting.I think here we have to apply a little bit of physics and a little bit of chemistry as well. Oh, Yes, little bit of Bio-logy also. When we mean "smell" oh, Yeah, where does it come from?
To my knowledge, any chemical due to its composition (Or element combining with air) gives off some sort of gas which disperse or mixes or modulates with air.Ok up to this point we are true here. Now comes the meaning of smell? This gas/es surrounded travel/s through our nose, the senser of which senses the odorous signal and sends this signal to the specific sectionof the brain with the help of neurons. The brain translates the kind of smell and detects it and we perceive(Sense) the smell of individual substances what we call "Smell".The inensity of the smell depends upon concentration (Molecular concentration),affinity, direction of the medium(Air),.... etc.Now I am putting this question for myself.
Can smell be sensed in vacuum? How about you, what do you say? I would say "Yes" and "No".
How? Beause, if every chemical some sort of binding energy of the molecules are loose, they become at least become to be the gasesous stage. So, even when you are inside the vacuum with this odourous substance, due to its its gaseous stage, the vacuum is no more a vacuum but a vaccuum with this gaseous out of this substance. Now it is not a vacuum. hence we will sense(The one who is inside this vacuum with odourous gas) the smell. If it is not like this, but it is still a vacuum one will not sense the smell. Conclusion is that one cannot feel (sense) the smell in vacuum, it needs medium tobe felt (Sensed).Again we have missed some points here. Now you mentioned the speed of it. Of course, the speed depends upon its diffusion. It depends upon how fast it diffuses. Hence the speed is variable with respect to diffusion. The diffusion depends upon the nature of the material, composition, density etc. Again, we have missed some points,Do the gaseoeus have wave length, frquency and other nature? Now you tell me.To my knowledge here again, since gas can be modualted, it should have obviously wavelength and frequency. With the specfic type of apparatus designed, we can determine the or identify the kind of smell that is being produced by the substance like the human does. How about that? Hope youare with me now.Quite interesting, is it not? Briefly like this.
