Does this occur to anyone? (2012 stuff)

You'll be fine before, after, and during 12/21/2012. The leap year is so that the calendar doesn't get out of alignment with the seasons but we drop 1 day every 100 years for years that aren't divisible by 400. Even then, that's slightly off but the end of the world will not happen toward the end of 2012. Here's something I should suggest. Stop worrying about it. You only got a year left. Play Pokemon instead. Live every day and live like normal as if these hoaxes weren't mentioned. And since the date was 2003, like the answerer above me said, it was made up during the days of Ruby and Sapphire so play plenty of Pokemon and you won't have to worry about these hoaxes.

That's a good point, but you're missing the better point, which is: there is no actual evidence that anything unusual will happen in 2012 at all. It doesn't matter how the calendar is counted, because the ancient Mayans didn't predict the end of the world in 2012 or any other year, and their calendar does not end in 2012. These are hoaxes that have been made up in the last few years (starting around 2003).

Who is this "everyone" you speak of? I don't know a single person who says anything about the world coming to an end at any particular time, yet alone next year. A few hundred anonymous internet twerps do not amount to "everyone" or even a considerable cohort.

The only people that are spreading this hoax are the uneducated or the gullible - it has nothing to do with reality, its a HOAX.

The only people that are ignorant are the people that believe this hoax is even remotely accurate.

The whole Mayan calendar doomsday thing is complete nonsense regardless of how you do the calculations.
