while the latest time for the start of eclipse within the MDT zone would be 6:49pm in the southwest of Mexicos Nayarit State.-Should be about 5pm.(Figuring the sun sets at about 7:30 on east coast, which wont be seeing the eclipse, Mountain time is 2 hours behind the east coast........
I know the solar eclipse will happen in the late afternoon. But I would like to know what around the approximate time it will happen in mountain time. Does anyone know?

Mountain Daylight Time (MDT) is used in all three countries of North America: Canada, Mexico and the United States. The eclipse will be seen in all three countries. The start of the eclipse differs from one place to another. The earliest time for the start of the eclipse in the MDT zone is 5:30pm in the northwest of Canada's Northwest Territories, while the latest time for the start of eclipse within the MDT zone would be 6:49pm in the southwest of Mexico's Nayarit State.

Should be about 5pm.

(Figuring the sun sets at about 7:30 on east coast, which won't be seeing the eclipse, Mountain time is 2 hours behind the east coast.. so I would start looking for it around 5 to be safe.)

To double check, I would check NASA or another space website.

And remember to use protective gear (NOT sunglasses, get welder's glasses, use a telescope or binocular filter, take pictures etc), as it's an annular eclipse and part of the Sun will be visible at all times (VERY dangerous to your eyes)!

This interactive map will give you the times based on your particular location.

In most of the Mountain time zone, the partial eclipse will start around 6:30 pm. (subtract 6 hours from UT shown on the map). In Arizona, where they don't go on daylight savings time, it will be an hour earlier (MST).

Around 5pm (MDT), you might go out a little earlier as I don't know the precise time.
