Please can someone help me with this chemistry homework? :)

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-09-11] [Hit: ]
sodium chloride is ionic and so is calcium carbonate (limestone). I think thats the answer since most probably u need to melt the raw materials to manufacture soda-lime.......
here is the question:

the melting point of soda-lime glass is about 750 degrees Celsius.
the raw materials for making soda are limestone and common salt (sodium chloride).
there are almost unlimited amounts of the raw materials available to manufacture soda-lime glass.

from the information given, what is the most important reason for recycling soda-lime glass?

thanks for any help! :)

probably energy cost for recycling is much lower than cost of production from raw materials, calcium and sodium usually form highly stable compounds, sodium chloride is ionic and so is calcium carbonate (limestone). I think thats the answer since most probably u need to melt the raw materials to manufacture soda-lime.
