If you have a calculator, and all the next generations will have a calculator do you really need to know how to multipy?

yes, you do.
it's part of thinking.
i was in the deli and asked for 1/3 pound of roast beef.
the new clerk had to ask someone how to measure 1/3 of a pound on the decimal scale.
people do all kinds of math in their heads all the time.
you really do need to know that.
Edit: A very sad commentary on America these days is the number of people asking how little education they can get away with. You might also like to look at the number of people out of work, and how many of them are sufficiently uneducated that their chances of getting a good job are just about none. Every else in the world, students are trying to get more education. That seems not to be the case here in the USA. That does not bode well for our future.

When you're doing a test, some questions you'll need to know how to multiply, and you can't use a calculator. Plus, you'll learn a lot more respect from teachers if you know how to multiply.

Definitely. I mean just imagine you're in a shop and you want to buy 8 packs of crisps at £0.66 each. YOu'd look like a noob if you pulled out a calculator and tapped it in where other people could equate it in their heads!

No, its good to be lazy, stupid and clueless. Math is the key to all knowledge, if you can't grasp something so simple as how to multiply, then you are destined for a life of ignorance.

No **** sherlock of course you have to know how to multiply to do math.
