You can't bar people from answering questions here, it's an open forum. You may very well not like all the answers you get, but you'll have to get them anyway.
That said, I'll tell you that, although I personally don't believe in ghosts, that going hunting for them may not be a totally lost cause. I think that it could be a good exercise in critical thinking, IF you properly apply the scientific method at all times. I'm sure you'll come to the conclusion that they probably (almost certainly) don't exist.
One other thing, regarding equipment: don't get too high tech. Another answer here suggests the use of an EMF meter and night vision goggles, this is silly, because these items work on sound (and well understood) physical principles. Nobody can explain how such devices could detect ghosts because there have never been test done on ghosts! Instead of such expensive gadgets, try bringing some of the other items suggested by the same person: a camera and a recorder. Also, take a note book and pencils. These are the same types of things Joe Nickell uses, and he has solved many hauntings, that is he found natural causes for hauntings.
