Question about tornados

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-06-21] [Hit: ]
Trees are not as common as other areas in the United States as well.So theres a good chance (90% chance) that the tornado is going to touch down in a clear field.......
I've noticed that a lot of tornados form and touch ground in fields and clear pastures. Anyone know why?

I think he means percentage wise for a proportional amount of land of let's say a mile of flat land and a mile of hilly areas, not because fields make up more of Tornado Alley in the United States and there is more flat land than hills for tornadoes to form. Tornadoes form in clear areas for many reasons. It is easier for water from past rain to evaporate, it is easier for water to be held in the air without the obstacles of a hill taking air space away from the water evaporating and condensing to form clouds, and of course areas that are flat are usually lower and have a higher air pressure than the air above it, so when this happens and when water wants to evaporate, once it passes the higher air pressure, it easily goes to the big amount of lower air pressure above it because the lower air pressure air is less dense then the higher air pressure air below it, and there is more low air pressure air in flat areas. This may be due to the fact that it is usually warmer in flat areas because it is more exposed to the heat and rays and ultraviolet radiation from the Sun, so it keeps the heat better and doesn't keep too much cold in like in hilly areas, so flat areas with a lot of moisture in the air combined with low air pressure with humid and moist and warm air and cool and dry air from lower areas from hills combines, which makes conditions for a tornado favorable. Hope I helped!

It's because tornado alley (the place where tornadoes occur most often) is located in the central and southern plains. Urbanized land only accounts for about 10% of the area, and the rest is fields and clear pastures. Trees are not as common as other areas in the United States as well. So there's a good chance (90% chance) that the tornado is going to touch down in a clear field.

As you probably know tornadoes are made when warm and cool air and clear areas such as fields lets the warm and cool air flow on their own better without trees and house on other obstacles in the way wind can flow faster and resulting in higher percentage in forming a tornado
