How does the Moon affect Earth

. it has shaped evolution itself... in a galaxy not so far away, well,......
Apparently the moon affects things that happen on earth and also humans. How and why is this? Has it been proven?

-
It makes tides because of the gravitational pull on the moon and the Earth. This has been proven base on Earth's tilt around the Sun related to where it is around the Sun and how close it is to the Sun or moon at a certain time based on the length of our days on Earth. Scientists concluded that without the moon, we'd orbit around the Sun slightly faster and have slightly shorter days than we do now. But it wouldn't be 6 hour days on Earth if the moon wasn't there, for the person who said that. It would really have no effects on us humans. It would be slightly darker at night, but it wouldn't be that much different because of the light from stars and the little light from the Sun that is trying to reach us from the other side of the Earth. Hope I helped!

well the moon does more than just effect tides on planet earth... it has shaped evolution itself... in a galaxy not so far away, well, in fact right here the moon was once part of the earth itself... and many many billions of years ago there was no moon... but a huge asteroid stuck the earth (way way before, the one that killed the dinosaurs) in fact this asteroid was so big that when it stuck the planet which we refer to as earth it actually blew it up, and what formed after was what we now refer to as earth and the moon... but back then the earth and the moon were very close... but as the earth had the greater gravity, all the things like gas, and liquid were drawn to the earth, leaving only ice and solids to form the moon, but because the moon was so close to the earth, its gravity stil had a great influence on the earth's water... so if we were to go back into time... the tides on earth were massive for billions of years... water level went up and down greatly over the course of the day.... which over time allowed the lifeforms that could live so easily in the seas to evolve into amphibians these creatures could live out of water for some time... but without water they would die.... an idea type of creature to live on a planet with such intense tides.... and as the moon drifted further away.. the tides lessened and so amphibian evolved to form reptiles... so so the age of the dinosaurs started.... blah blah blah so without the moon life as we know it may have never existed. It is sad to also realise the moon is still slowly drifting away from planet earth, inch by inch (I think its actually about 7 inches each year) so one day... in the far future... we will have lost our moon all together.... wonderfully we will have gained a new planet in out solar system..... one that will be near by and one that we could actually inhabit (and we may need to in the very distant future as as last resort before our planet becomes uninhabitable due to the expansion of our dying sun) (this is a long way off, and will only give us a short reprieve in this solar system before our sun expands and engulfs all the inner planets....but everything is always in a state of entropy... its something that sounds scary.... but isnt... with out it... we would be in perfect absolute zero... and therefore, nothing... always enjoy the choas

It slowed down Earth's rotation so instead of having 6-hour days, we have full 24-hour days.
It also makes tides by its gravitational pull.

-
The only way in which the Moon affects the Earth is to cause the ocean tides. It has absolutely no effect on humans.

-
dinomari is right and statisticaly the police and hospitals are busier on full moons.

-
Well for one it makes the tides!
