Velcro, Tang, Teflon (non-stick surfaces), space suits, cranes, propulsion systems, etc.

Many propulsion systems have been invented specifically for certain missions, and then have later been used for other purposes.

A lot of head way in chemical mixtures has been made since the space program was created, since they experimented a lot for rocket propulsion systems.

Here is a list I found:
-Water Reclamation
-Water/Air purification
-climate monitering
-Global positioning systems
-heart pump
-Lasik eye surgery
-Various vaccines
-high tech jobs
-new industries (hence future space exploration)

-
Various kinds of heat shields were developed specifically for space craft reentering the atmosphere.

Both Velcro and Tang were invented before they were used in space, but they were not successful in the market place before the space program made them famous.

Solar cells were invented before the start of the space program but did not see widespread use until they were used in satellites because in the early days they were too expensive for use where some other power source was available.

Almost all technology used in space was first invented separately from the space program.

Spacesuit, space wrenches, the Canada Arm, space toilet.
