What is a vector and equilibrium in layman's terms

A vector is an element with magnitude + a direction. Think of it like a line. The length would be the magnitude and the direction would be it orientation, or which way its pointing. Like a compass needle.

Equilibrium is like "in balance". The system, or object will not change from the state it's in unless someone or something acts on it.
