Need help with a statistics problem

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-09-27] [Hit: ]
Student did better on second test-Well, I did the math wrong but I got the right answer by chance (I divided the students score by the average of that test and ignored the SD completely). Im probably going to lose some points on that one, if not all of them for doing it wrong.......
I had a statistics test today and one question in particular threw me off. I had no idea how to solve the question so I pretty much wrote down some random crap.

Anyway, here was the question:
A student took two aptitude tests. The average on the first test was 356 with a standard deviation of 63 and the student scored 435.The average on the second test was 73 with a standard deviation of 12 and the student scored 90. Which test did the student do better on? (show your work)

I'm not entirely sure if I got the numbers right, but regardless, I had no idea how to even solve the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

-
Standardize the scores
First test score=(435-356)/63= 1.25 STD dev above mean
Second test score=(90-73)/12=1.42 STD dev above mean
Student did better on second test
